Why we love this analysis
Accordions can be a great solution, but tracking for this type of module isn’t available in GA4 out of the box. Adding a little custom tracking will enrich your data so you can see how accordions are used and determine if they’re serving your users’ needs. If you have accordions on the website, you should have this level of tracking and reporting, too.

Not seeing expand_accordion in GA4? That’s because this event is custom! Set it up with your developer to hard code tracking or configure via GTM.
- Pro Tip: You should measure not just if accordions are expanded, but which ones are most popular. Use that information to determine edits to the titles, body, and order of the accordions to better meet user demand.
