CI’s Vision for AI in Arts Administration

Arts and culture are human, and AI usage needs to reflect that

Artificial intelligence (AI) is a dynamic and rapidly evolving tool with the potential to advance our mission of supporting cultural organizations. Drawing on CI’s history of guiding our industry through digital transformation, we approach AI with the same thoughtful leadership that defines our work.

AI as an Enhancer, Not a Replacement

AI must never replace human artistry, critical thinking, or cultural leadership. Instead, we embrace AI as a collaborative partner that amplifies human creativity and strategic thinking. Our vision places AI in a supporting role, handling routine tasks, providing information, and exposing perspectives while preserving the irreplaceable human elements of empathy, cultural context, and artistic vision that are core to our work in the arts.

Human Oversight with Accountability

All AI-powered processes must be guided by human expertise and judgment. While AI may inform decisions or generate options, people ultimately remain responsible for ensuring outputs align with their values and meet the unique needs of cultural institutions. CI commits to thoughtful human review, strong ethical guidance, and cultural awareness in all AI-powered work. Placing humans at the center of AI use ensures alignment with the values of our firm and the communities we serve.

Responsible & Ethical AI Use

We commit to using AI purposefully. AI introduces opportunities but also challenges including bias, environmental impact, and questions around intellectual property. By thinking deeply about inputs, carefully reviewing outputs, and staying current with evolving regulations, we avoid misleading or manipulative content and prioritize audience trust and clarity. We also recognize the environmental impact of AI technologies and will use them mindfully, avoiding unnecessary processing or aimless use.

Professional Growth & Advancement

We see AI as a catalyst for professional growth. Through training, intentional exploration, and shared learning, we aim to give our team the tools to work more creatively, efficiently, and strategically. AI democratizes access to insights and capabilities, helping individuals at all experience levels contribute more confidently to high-impact work. We empower arts professionals to choose how and when AI supports their work, reducing repetitive tasks while enhancing each person’s unique talents.

Continuous Learning, Innovation & Collaboration

AI will continue to evolve, and so will we. We embrace thoughtful experimentation and welcome diverse perspectives from our team, our clients, and the wider arts community. As the landscape shifts, we will revisit and revise our practices through open feedback, public accountability, and collective problem-solving. There are no perfect answers, but we’re committed to asking the right questions and evolving our approach with care, intention, and our signature CI spirit.
